Zambia is one of the peaceful nations in Southern Africa. After independence in 1964, reformed church indigenous leadership felt empowered by the Holy Spirit to take over the leadership of the church from missionaries. Though the church settled first in the eastern part of the country, by the grace of God it grew to all parts of the country in nearly forty years. Talk about what the Jesus can do with his people in short period of time. God is really at work in the lives of people. Now every part of the nation has people who call themselves reformers. For a long time, members of Reformed church in Zambia were called dutch. This was so because the dutch missionaries from South Africa brought the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ to Zambia, which was then Northern Rhodesia.
On this front page I am not going to spend time explaining the whole faith and activities of the Reformed church of Zambia but simply state the basics of what it means to be reformed. And as time goes on, this website will help motivate local reformed churches to voluntary submit or place their congregation activities on it for free for the purpose of presenting Christ to all people. This website is linked to other sites such as www.gracebiblereformedchurch.com; www.revdredwardkavimbalungu.com; www.mynsima.com. What does it mean to be reformed? Though most reformed Christians in Zambia and else where in the world can not fully explain or give a definite answer to this question, will try to uphold the central theme of the sovereignty of God. Reformed church in zambia understands that life and faith are gifts from God. The whole world and its creatures are created by God who also rules all. In short all things above and below are in the hand of God.
God is sovereign. He is perfect in all aspect and holds all righteousness. He is all powerful, all knowing, everywhere, holy and unchangeable. He created all and sustains all. Though He created all out of his own pleasure, yet lives independent of creation.
God is One but revealed himself in three persons. All three persons are made up of one essence. Therefore each person is fully God. Though practically it is impossible to fully understand the trinity, reformed Church of Zambia believes and teaches the doctrine of the trinity as revealed in the holy scriptures.
Reformed church of Zambia believes the Bible to be the inspired word of God. It is the product of the breath of God. It is the written word of God. it has authority on all aspects of our lives. It is sufficient for our salvation. Through the Bible we come face to face with our Lord. It is a witness through the Spirit to our Lord Jesus Christ. As reformers, we hold to the fact that the word and the Spirit are inseparable as far as salvation is concern.
